Supplier Search Help

Engineering Suppliers, Search Help

We have some features that you won’t have seen on other search engines - but don’t worry it's easy to use.   Here are a few helpful hints:

Keywords:

This is typically a company name (e.g. Heinz), brand name (e.g. baked beans), or product type (e.g. pump). However because the complete database is searched, any keyword that the supplier has entered to describe their equipment or service can be used.

If you want to enter more than one keyword, you may do so by separating each keyword by a comma.  In this instance the search results will be generated by referencing either word entered.

Search multiple key words:

If you specify two or more words in your search (separated by a comma) and check the box labelled "search multiple keywords" it will only display results with both/all of the words entered.

Industry Type:

The industry type is simply the industry in which the supplier has experience.

The industry type is not a required field but can be used to refine the search criteria further. For example if you are working in the food industry and looking for a sanitary pump, you may want a supplier who has worked in the food industry previously, i.e. Set Industry type = Food

Suppliers are required to select a limited number of key industries when they register for the website, so when you use the Industry type feature to refine your searches, you can be sure that the supplier (or suppliers) generated by the search result really does have experience in your particular industry.

Product Type:

The product type is there to allow the engineer (or user) to ascertain what "products" the supplier has had experience with.  Product type must be one of the following:

  • a food or beverage product.    e.g. bread, berries, coffee chocolate (Can be specific i.e. "chocolate" or generic i.e. " food")
  • a consumer product.    e.g. petfood, cement, concrete, pharmaceuticals, paper etc
  • a fluid type.    e.g. water, milk, steam, chemicals etc
  • a material type.    e.g. coal, bitumen, metal, grain etc
  • a package type.    e.g. cartons, bottles, bags, drums, pallets

The Product type is not a required field but can be used to refine the search criteria further. For example, if you are working with cheese then you may want a supplier who has handled cheese as a product previously, i.e. Set Product type = Cheese.

Suppliers are required to select a limited number of key products when they register for the website, so when you use the Product type feature to refine your searches, you can be sure that the supplier (or suppliers) generated by the search result really does have experience with your particular product.

Postcode:

Ever wanted to just find the closest supplier? Why not try out some of the options below to refine your search:

  • To find a supplier in your postcode, simply enter your postcode in the box provided.
  • If you also want to include surrounding suburbs, then simply click the “Include Surrounds” box.
  • To find a supplier in your state, select your state from the “State” box
  • To find an overseas supplier, select the “State” box and select “other”

Supplier Mini Sites:

When the search results are generated, you can find out more about each supplier by clicking on their company name.

The mini site is the supplier’s specific site within the ESO website and it details all the supplier’s information including company information, key words, specialist industries, specialist products and ranking information.  It also may contain images and downloadable documents specific to that supplier.

Using Rankings to Refine Search Results:

The rankings information is presented for each of the suppliers in the search results. By clicking on the appropriate heading (e.g. price, delivery, quality, service, overall) you can SORT the results according to this ranking (i.e the highest ranking appears at the top of the list).

For example, if you want the supplier with the higest ranking for price, then click the "Price" column. If service is important to you then click on the "Service" column.
